“Twelve” by Photographer Juliana Sohn

Exploring the transitory stage between childhood and adulthood, photographer Juliana Sohn documents the lives of 12-year-old girls in New York City for her series, “Twelve.” Describing the age of twelve as a time of both disorientation and discovery, Sohn explains: “I wanted to try and capture this fleeting yet critical period of their lives,” she explains. “I hoped to capture a range of these girls’ experiences as they navigated emotional and physical changes, shifting social dynamics and evolving self-identities.”
